Ship Reviews

Great Antarctica, South Georgia and Tristan Da Cunha expedition cruise. Very capable and knowledgeable team, captain Vlad and the crew, hotel management with Oliver as a leader and excellent kitchen with delicious meals and Amit, the best chef.. Exceptional expedition guides team with safe and reliable landing, trekking, polar plunge, Zodiac cruising, kayaking and story telling. Everyone has an interesting personality and life experience from Mark as a tour leader to every team member. Lecturers and scientists were great, highly experienced and knowledgeable. Spa and sauna on the deck 8 were excellent amenities to watch the wild life passing by while immersed in 38 degrees C warm water Vincent on the piano was very good. Wild life experts were always there and helpful to find the marine mammals, birds and geology patterns either from the observation deck or during the landing. Thank you for incredible cruise and unforgettable memory. Great photos and videos to last forever. Highly recommended to any adventurers and travelers.

Fantastic cruise , our expedition team were very knowledgeable and delivered an amazing itinerary. The guest speakers onboard were also specialists in their fields of expertise ( whales, fish, birds and geology). Overall they delivered thoughtful lectures on what we would see plus the history and future of Antarctica. The staff on board were excellent, friendly and helpful., even opening your stateroom door when we returning cold and tied from our zodiac excursions. The ship had a family feel about it with staff quickly learning your name and preferences. Cabins were beautiful, well designed with plenty of storage space. Coffee machine and separate kettle for those who prefer tea. Mini fridge stocked with soft drinks and beer, a home from home after coming back from the wonderful zodiac cruises and landings on Antarctica. Considering the size of the ship the main restaurant offered plenty of choice at every meal. The quality of food was excellent , we even had fresh lobster following our stop in Tristan da Cunha. Disembarkation was also easy as bags did not need to be out the night before. Our flight home was early evening and we were allowed to stay on the ship until our transfer arrived mid afternoon. Overall the cruise met and exceeded my expectations, so much so that we are planning to cruise with them again next year to the Artic.

Overview We have just completed a 20-night Antarctica and transatlantic expedition, sailing from Ushuaia to Cape Town. Our aim was to follow in Shackleton’s footsteps and immerse ourselves in the natural world—and the experience exceeded expectations. It was an extraordinary voyage from start to finish. So much so, we have booked the Arctic for next year with Swan Hellenic. Expedition The expedition experience was exceptional. The team—comprising specialists across multiple disciplines including ornithology, geology, marine biology, whale research, and guided hiking were outstanding. They ensured we spent as much time as possible off the ship and fully engaged with the environment. We had remarkable wildlife encounters, getting close to whales and penguins, and witnessed breathtaking landscapes throughout. Landings at iconic locations such as Point Wild, Grytviken, and Tristan da Cunha were real highlights. On sea days, the team delivered high-quality lectures, briefings, debriefs, and engaging onboard programming that added significant depth to the journey. Service The service throughout was superb. From Jeffrey at reception, to José who looked after our cabin, and the entire bar and restaurant teams, the staff were consistently attentive, friendly and considerate. They quickly learned our preferences and took genuine care in ensuring we were comfortable and well looked after for the duration of the trip. Facilities The wellness facilities are compact but well designed, including a small gym, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. We made regular use of these throughout the voyage and found them to be a valuable addition, particularly after excursions. We also each had a massage, which was excellent. Food For context, we are both keen cooks and regularly dine at high-quality restaurants, so our expectations are relatively high. Of approximately 60 meals during the trip, only 16 were à la carte. These were very good. The buffet offering, however, was more variable—ranging from acceptable to good. While the food was not a standout feature of the trip, it was perfectly adequate. On a positive note, meals were complemented by a strong and well-curated wine selection. The Ship The ship itself is modern, well-equipped, and felt very safe throughout, even in rough seas where the stabilisers performed effectively. Our cabin was excellent: a very comfortable bed, a well-designed seating area, a TV with a wide selection of programming, and a high-quality bathroom with good amenities. Importantly, even after 20 days onboard, we never felt confined or claustrophobic. The ships crew were also first rate, and we felt safe at all times despite operating in extreme environments

This cruise was amazing from the smooth embarkation to disembarkation! All the bar and restaurant staff were fabulous, friendly and offered a personalised service from day one. The Chef and his team produced delicious food with an excellent range of foods from around the world which catered for all nationalities onboard. The expedition team were so well organised with safety being the number one priority. They gave clear instructions during every outing. I was apprehensive about the zodiacs but it was a piece of cake to get in and out. All landings were very respectful towards the environment and the bio security was excellent. We had a balcony cabin which was worth the extra money, we woke up to humpback whales right below us, words can’t describe how magical it was. Breathing the clean fresh air was out of this world whilst watching the beautiful scenery and listening to the icebergs. The cabin stewards were fantastic and went above and beyond especially for those passengers who felt a bit travel sick on the Drake. The ship was extremely stable even with a bit of Drake shake, always felt very safe. The lectures were very informative and delivered well. You could watch from the TV in your cabin if you didn’t want to be there in person, however it was lovely to listen to the lectures and interact whilst sipping champagne! The laundry onboard was quick and efficient so no need to overpack. We loved the casual/ smart casual vibe on the ship. It was lovely and warm so T-shirts are a must! There was plenty of entertainment to keep us busy and a nightly update from the expedition leader about the following days activities and outings. We liked that the days schedule and evening menu was available on the TV in our cabin. The Captains ‘welcome and farewell’ evenings were lovely as we got to see the staff who were in the background but were instrumental to the safety and smooth running of the ship. The bridge tour is a must! It was a trip of a lifetime but we will definitely be back with Swan Hellenic.

The service on board was exception. The meals were fantastic and catered for everyone. The staff from the stewards looking after your cabins to the wait staff in the restaurant made your time so enjoyable and were so welcoming and helpful. The on board entertainment and information lectures were great. It was great to have experts on board to share their knowledge of such a unique place. We got to land and explore different sites and see the wildlife in their natural habitat. The scenery was spectacular. The off ship experiences in the zodiacs were out of this world up close to such amazing wildlife and with expert drivers able to tell you about the different wildlife and ice formations. Getting on and off the ship was streamline. The staff were there to help at any stage with suggestions to make things easier. I can only emphasis how wonderful the whole experience was.
