LoginDive into new discoveries as you sail onboard Serenade of the Seas®.
Wherever in the world you’re sailing, Serenade of the Seas® keeps you close to all the natural splendour. Once onboard, panoramic views and acres of glass ensure that you’ll never miss a moment of the surrounding scenery. In between adventures onshore, you can soak up the sun poolside, tee off on the mini golf green and dig into world-class flavours that will take you from Tuscany to Tokyo.
For the first time we were in an inside stateroom - we normally have had a balcony (10 cruises) or an ocean view (1). This was also our first Royal Carribean voyage in fifteen years. Our previous trip was on the Jewel, a sister to the Serenade. The ship is older, predating the multi bells and whistles on the large RCI ships. That said the Serenade seemed to be in very good condition. It does however have limited venues and could use an upgrade in selection of bars and entertainment rooms. We ended up at the Vintages bar most every night after dinner and did have a great time meeting folks and enjoying excellent service from the bar staff. The main dining room was quite enjoyable, again with very good staff at the reception and from our waiters. The food itself was certainly acceptable with good varieties each night. There is also a theme night each night. If you are wondering about MDR dress codes, it is smart casual every night - collared shirt and slacks for example, although many did not go that far. A few men did wear jacket and tie, but they were a distinct minority. We did not take in the Theater shows, but did enjoy some of the theme nights in the Centrum. (70’s and 80’s). We were quite fortunate with weather - sunshine at two ports, cloudy but pleasant at another. Only Juneau had significant rain. Even then the rain stopped into the afternoon so we could still enjoy our whale watching excursion which we purchased off the ship. Many tours are available shortly after leaving the ship. Our room steward was excellent, but room cleanup is once per day. You will be asked if you want morning or evening. Our room was always in great shape by the time we got back from breakfast. One last note on an inside cabin: it is definitely cost effective and it certainly encourages you to do other things than sit around your stateroom. That said we are unlikely to ever book an inside cabin again. It is just too confining. And finally our experience at the Canada Centre cruise port was quite good. We had seen the reports of long waits to get aboard. Yes there is a lengthy line for US customs and for security - one line for all ships, but it did move fairly quickly. We dropped our bags at the passenger arrival area, about 11:15 and were onboard before noon. No real issues at all. Overall we enjoyed this RCI older ship cruise, and our interaction with fellow passengers. Now to plan the next cruise - with a balcony!
I recently sailed with Royal Caribbean for the first time, and from start to finish, the experience was unforgettable. The Silent Disco was hands-down one of the most fun and unique events I’ve ever attended—dancing with glowing headphones and watching everyone groove to their own beat was surreal and hilarious. The Unlimited Beverage Package was a game-changer. Specialty coffees included? Yes, please! And no awkward tipping moments—gratuities were already covered. The Casino, huge shoutout to Kris and Nicolas, the incredible dealers who made every game exciting and somehow always doubled my money! The Centrum Bar became our go-to hangout thanks to Vir, Elroy, and John. These guys remembered our names, made us feel like VIPs, and filled the space with laughter and genuine warmth. Royal Caribbean exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff made us feel like family, the entertainment was top-notch, and the perks were worth every penny. If you're on the fence about cruising—just go. And if you get the chance to meet the crew I did, you're in for something truly special. The only thing I found was that the buffet was small and lacked variety. The lineups for open dining were annoying, so next time I would stick with a set dining time to avoid that. Also, a table for two gets service quicker than a table for 8.
