Ship Reviews

Years ago we cruised the popular lines, including NCL, Carnival, Holland America, Princess, Celebrity, and Royal Caribbean. In recent years, though, we've opted for smaller, quieter ships with Windstar, Atlas, and Oceania. This time, though, we were with the kids and very young grandchildren, so this cruise made sense, especially since we live near Tampa. (Boy oh boy, do I wish we had more options from our home port!) I pretty knew what to expect, and was dreading the party atmosphere and unsupervised kids running amok. Some of the passengers were not on their best behavior; one lady had her bare feet up on the seat in front of us in the theater) and the pool areas were LOUD and packed when we weren't in port. Overall, though, the staff did their best to keep things "nice" and I found the food surprisingly good. While the ship is a bit worn, it seems well cared-for; I have no trouble with the older, smaller ships. The entertainment was also good, particularly the ship's entertainers were very talented. The comedian was meh, but family-friendly humor is rarely great.

This was my first cruise and I recommend this as your first cruise as it is easy to navigate unlike the other new ships like icon, and utopia. Cabin: 4/5 the cabin and bathroom were pretty small. You definitely can't stay there the entire day as it is a bit claustrophobic. For a family of four it was cramped. The bathroom was horribly small and the shower curtain is annoying and sticks to you. The toilet also has a loud flush and can be heard by everyone. Overall ok for the price. Dining(windjammer, fair lady): 3/5 Food was bland and had tasted like it was a few days old. Also, there could've been more variety. Desserts were awesome, especially the oatmeal cookies. Since it was included I don't have much complaints. Fair lady was pretty good. I ordered the chicken parmesan and It had a nice flavor to it. Activities: 3/5 If you are bringing kids below 18, I recommend the newer ships with more activities. Icon, wonder, symphony, independence, utopia, and etc as they have more activities and facilities for kids. In enchantment They had a teen club and daycare but not much other than that. This ship was more of a classic cruise experience and mostly had things for adults like drinking, trivia, and karaoke. Enchantment would be good if you plan on going on an adult's only trip. Service: 6/5 Every crew member was helpful and kind. I could tell that they were passionate about their job. My mom had lost a bag and the crew members were so helpful and they ended up finding it. Also, the cruise director Caroline was awesome and was always present in many activities and cares a lot about the experience of the guests. Overall awesome crew, that's why it is more than 5 :) Entertainment: 4/5 Performers were very talented and I enjoyed the comedy show as well. However, I feel like again that Enchantment didn't have as many facilities to put a broadway style production like the newer, bigger ships. Other than that I enjoyed the shows. Overall, for my first cruise I had a good experience on the Enchantment. I hope this review helped!
