So, I have some free time and thought I would leave a review for the British. This particular cruise was part of a package at the end of a tour of China. The first rule of any cruise ship, in my opinion, is to overuse hand gel cleaners-you are amongst people of a very different "culture" from yours. My second rule is to make sure you have a balcony, otherwise, I would not even bother coming. Seriously, on an overcrowded top deck with jibba-jabba and hustle-bustle going on 24/7, with a balcony, you will have a quiet place to escape to. The third rule is do not be afraid to ask staff/waiters for help, for instance, mix up the menu if you don't like something. Fourth rule and very important, do not go on organised trips from the ship, they are not only huge rip-offs but " everyone " comes back tired and complaining and you will definitely not experience the tourist sites the way they should be, and 100% you wont get to see half the attractions available that a private and more personal small tour would offer, simply because hearding a coach load of cruise tourists (think about it) is very slow. I did hear a few times that it was "Okay", but please note that it is my opinion that the reason for these few passengers' okay reviews of their day, is that maybe, not all, people convince themselves the trip was good, so as not to lose face…. A bit of human nature there for you. Also, they may not have experienced a private tour at much the same price and quite often much cheaper. It is very easy to research and book guides and private leisurely tours in advance, even the day before. One last thing to note on the coach/cattle tours is that you are rushed along sweltering-long queues just to exit the port. If you wait just an hour or so, and play it cool, you can breeze off the ship in minutes. The coaches and queues arrive back well before sailing time so they can be unloaded in time for dinner and entertainment. You can arrive back after these guys and walk straight back on board. Finally, don't queue all day at customer services when you complain about the excessive charges, etc. as it seems like a permanent queue is there all day, get up really early as it's open 24 hours a day. You will receive immediate service and the staff are more friendly as they have not yet been abused by unhappy customers. Best of luck, and remember that not everyone will smile as much as you will if you take my advice.
