Overall it was a wonderful experience on a gorgeous ship! The entertainment was great and varied every evening. The staff was incredible! The pool area was never over crowded which was nice. Our Butler was excellent as was the housekeeping staff that never failed to have our suite tidy in a timely manner. I was unhappy with the sharp handles on the cupboards in the closet as twice I accidentally gouged my arm on them. Too sharp in a small space with delicate skin. Also the magnifying mirrors were too high and unable to adjust and not sufficient. Bring your own! Most of our excursions were pretty good and we got what we asked for. One ferry on a rainy day was concerning as it seemed overcrowded. Everyone was eyeing the life preservers and planning their escape in an emergency. My husband says we were charged for the free Wi-Fi Mostly everyone and the ship were fantastic!
Excellent circumnavigation of Iceland., and 4-day pre-cruise visit to Reykjavik. This was our 5th Regent cruise, and as usual - a beautiful ship, excellent crew, wonderful food. Penthouse suite cabin on Deck 14; great cabin and butler service. Best entertainment troupe we've seen yet. The specialty restaurants - Prime 7, and Pacific Rim particularly, are wonderful. The tiger prawns and sushi at Pacific Rim are especially well-prepared. Took the "backstage" tour of Constellation Theater - amazing to see what they can do in such a small space. I wish they would offer a bridge tour as well - I miss these. Spa was a disappointment (screwed up a reservation), and grand buffet ran out of roast beef (tsk, tsk). General Manager responded to these concerns very appropriately. Lots of excursions, but Iceland is showing the growing pains of too much tourism too fast - quality and reliability varies. Will sail w/ Regent again
Everything on the ship was fabulous as it always is! My only negative would be some of the excursions that didn't live up to Regent standards. Several were very expensive and not good! We did the post experience and it was GREAT! I suggest Regent review their excursions! Several of the descriptions were not accurate! We love the mensa and trivia! Iceland is a land of wonders and some were not explored! Our hotel room at the front end was lovely-the post trip room was very small but we managed! Our guide on the post trip, Kat, was outstanding. We found that several of our excursion guides were hard to hear and not well informed. We loved the Herring show, going over the Arctic Circle and waterfalls! The lunches on the Regent excursions were awful-they were great on the post trip! The entertainment was very good-loved the comedian! Food is always good!
We have been on over a dozen cruises in the last ten years. This was our third Regent cruise in the last 24 months. Some of the other cruises were with the so called premium cruise lines but clearly Regent is the best of the best! The service personnel are dedicated, competent and go out of their way to take care of all of our needs. I asked for some ginger ale the first day and every day thereafter our refrigerator was stocked with it. I didn't have to ask twice. The food is first rate and varied with daily specials in the main dining room that changed multiple times during our trip. We particularly enjoyed the speciality dining which is included in the price. The Grandeur is a spectacular ship that is beautiful and spacious. Lots of places inside and out to sit and read and watch the sea. The cabin itself was roomy and very well designed. Hanging out in the cabin never felt claustrophobic. Our cabin had both a shower and a tub in a beautifully finished bathroom. The excursions were well planned and offered multiple options for each port and were included in the price of the cruise. When you consider what is included, free excursions, drinks, gratuities, internet, a Regent cruise is a bargain and much more enjoyable than being nicked by other cruise lines for every little extra. We met a lot of nice folks on the cruise and virtually every one of them was a multiple time Regent customer. That says it all. There was one problem, however. The cruise was not long enough. I was not ready to get off.
It has been several years since we sailed on Regent and we couldn’t be more pleased with our experience. We booked this cruise late so cabin selections were slim and we ultimately settled on a PH B on deck 6. It wound up being a great location mid ship and easy to get to all activities and restaurants. The closet in the PH category has been vastly improved over the Explorer PH (We liked the location so much that we booked it for a transatlantic on the Splendor next March. ) The Grandeur is a lovely ship with a top notch crew. The only downside was our butler who failed to touch base with us on arrival and we had to track him down about 4 hours after we checked into our suite. It appeared he was quite overworked as he often forgot items we requested. Otherwise, we were quite pleased with the other crew members service, dining options, excursions and activities. This was a specialty golf cruise with several celebrities onboard to provide lectures, shows, and golf clinics. One celebrity was John O’Hurley of J. Peterman/Seinfeld fame and his wife, Lisa, who is a well known women’s golf wear designer. In addition, Annika Sorenstam, famous women’s golf pro was on board. There were quite a few families with children on this cruise given the time of the year. However, we never once saw any unruly behavior, etc. Regent seemed to keep them quite busy with activities. It was a port intensive cruise so much time was spent off the ship with only two at sea days.
