Just returned from a 10 day Caribbean Adventure from Ft Lauderdale Apr 13-23 on the Enchanted Princess. The ship is gorgeous with a very impressive Piazza area on decks 5-7. This cruise had lots of entertainment in all areas of the ship. There was always somewhere on the ship where you could choose the type of music/entertainment you wanted, especially from 5 pm on. Our dining staff was wonderful. They were friendly, funny, efficient and made our trip extra special. Overall, the food was above average. We did the 360 Dining Experience and it is incredible. The YouTube videos don't do it justice. Our waiter in the MDR was very good about bringing an extra dish if my wife and I wanted to try a small portion to sample in addition to our main entries or deserts. The islands were beautiful with friendly people all round. If you love beach lounging and swimming this cruise is for you. Embarkation and disembarkation were quick and efficient. We love Princess and highly recommend this cruise!
There was a lot of great, bunch of good, and only 3 complaints about the Enchanted Princess. The great stuff includes the look and condition of the ship. The stateroom was very nice and clean. the room steward we had was always on top of everything we needed and yet hardly ever seen. The public areas were very pretty and clean too. The food in the our dinning room was always great, but we are not super picky. Ship WIFI worked great for us. The app was awesome in finding our shipmates! Now for the good. I will start with the main shows. They were all very good (if not great). The bars and lounges were very nice, though they are never big enough on any ship to hold all that want to be there. The cocktail menu has some tasty drinks and the bar tenders were speedy enough that the wait was never too long. NOW FOR THE BAD.. 1) The lounge area waiters would walk by not take empty glasses, and worse they would not even ask if you wanted another. You have to flag them down to get them to stop and see what you need, and no they were not super busy. 2) the food at the buffet was ok but usually never hot. It would be warm at best, but i find this issue across all ships. 3) the automatic light in the stateroom closet. If you get up at night, be ready for a bright light!! and it can wake up any light sleepers in the room. SOLUTION i stuck a band aid over the sensor every night. The sticky parts lasted the week, so I only needed one.
We took a 8 day cruise through New England up to Halifax with extended family. Overall had a good time. We found this was pretty comparable to NCL or Holland America. However I felt Princess does a better job at keeping everyone busy than NCL even in cold weather. Also, it seemed to be easier to find a place to sit in venues as long as you came 20-30 minutes early. We were also happy to see that most of the popular game shows were mostly in the theater which makes so much more sense than how NCL does not . The dancers/singers and musicians especially in the theater were amazing
This was our third time on this specific ship. The size is perfect for us, not too big, not too small. Has lots to offer. The trip itinerary itself was amazing. Enjoyed all of the ports, and we had gorgeous weather. The staff on every Princess cruise we have ever been on (8 so far) have always been beyond pleasant, they are personable, friendly, helpful..... a total joy to spend time with. The ship offers many activities and options for all types of travelers. Whether you want to just hang out and relax with a good book somewhere, or spend time up on the Lido deck watching the entertainment provided by the staff or on the big screen. There is something for everyone. We are not Horizon Court fans so we do eat breakfast in the main dining room each morning - they are always delicious! And we do make dinner reservations as well - we enjoy having the same dining staff as we get to know them a bit more personally, where they are from, their family life... Would recommend a Princess Cruise vacation to anyone interested in cruising.
I would have given our New England/Canada cruise on the Enchanted Princess 5 stars except for two issues but first, the good. The service was excellent, especially our two servers in the Reserve Collection section of the Capri Dining room. All the staff were friendly and quite attentive. Our mini suite was clean and everything worked, although there could have been an additional 110v outlet in the living area. People should definitely bring an adapter to provide more capacity. Also bring a strip of duct tape to cover the sensor on the light above the closet area. Otherwise, the light will come on every time it detects someone entering or exiting the bathroom. Now for the two issues: the first concerns an excursion we took. During the last part of the Bay of Fundy tour, our guide took us on a 15 minute drive through the neighborhood where she grew up, where her grandmother’s house was, where she went to school. Nobody cared! The second issue was with The Catch by Rudis. I ordered the Filet of Sole, which came with a $20 surcharge. The filet was small, overcooked, and very dry. It came with no sauce. We ate there on another night where I ordered a small lobster tail and medium rare filet. The filet came out medium well to well, and I sent it back. The Catch by Rudis was a big disappointment for me. The Crown Grill on the other hand was excellent. The food and service was comparable to what you would expect at a Michelin Starred restaurant.
