Ship Reviews

My wife and I cruised on the Caribbean Princess in June 2025, and we had a wonderful time exploring breathtaking ports and absolutely spectacular fjords under sunny skies. The scenery alone made the trip unforgettable. The ship itself is older, and while it has been refurbished, the age still shows in places—small cabins with poor soundproofing, and quirky automation in the stateroom lights. If you get up at night, lights under the bed and near the closet/bathroom automatically turn on. We ended up stuffing towels under the bed and wished we had brought duct tape for the ceiling light sensor—just a heads-up for light-sensitive sleepers! Food-wise, main dining was decent, but specialty dining was hit-or-miss. • Sabatini’s (Italian): Unfortunately underwhelming—main dining actually offered better meals. • Crown Grill (steakhouse): Outstanding. Easily the culinary highlight of the cruise. If you’re on board, make a reservation early and go twice—it’s that good. We had fantastic service throughout. Our dining team—Chris (waiter), Regina (busser, from Malaysia), and Nearrojon (Maitre D')—were warm, attentive, and genuinely added joy to each evening. We also enjoyed a relaxing spa day with Apple and Tonya (from Zimbabwe)—both were excellent massage therapists. One big tip: we were grateful to have a balcony on the starboard side—perfect for viewing the fjords without having to jostle for rail space on deck. All in all, a great cruise with incredible views, excellent service, and a few quirks.

This was our first cruise and was absolutely wonderful! We had a mini-suite with balcony, which also had a sofa bed for our son, and also got the Plus package that included drinks, wifi, gratuities, and a few other benefits, which was well worth it. Having our own balcony was invaluable when it came to viewing the glaciers during the last two days of the cruise (and of course for other times when we just wanted to chill outside in our own private space). All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. The drinks (taking full advantage of our unlimited options) were not very strong (alcohol) which was probably for the best. The food options were very good, but the quality was just average at best with a few very good exceptions. Following the pre-cruise instructions including ordering the Medallion in advance made the embarkation process very efficient. We also did a shore excursion in each port and waited for an excursion sale to happen before booking them, saving lots of money. There is a lot of entertainment and things to do on board (we couldn't even get to everything we wanted to), so there was never any boredom even on sea days. We would absolutely do this cruise again.

Princess was just as nice as ever on this Alaska cruise. This time we included a land portion which took us to Denali State Park and Denali National Park. It had been a long time since we sailed with Princess. The Medallion app and medallions were new to us. I like the system, but it could still use some tweaking. Checking in and boarding was easy. Our stateroom seemed to have more closet space than before. We were challenged a bit more with navigating the ship because certain elevators do not go to some floors (and we are older, now.) The food was good, the service great. Staff and crew were over the top helpful and friendly. The entertainment was very enjoyable. We went to every nightly show. Glacier viewing was excellent, with the ship staying in one position for several minutes before turning. The ports of call in Alaska are remarkably unchanged and we felt right at home. There were not a lot of announcements over the system that would interrupt our conversations. (We have experienced differently on other lines.) The Caribbean Princess is attractive and laid out well. Her Cruise Director and staff are awesome!
