Regatta

Better than new, Regatta is the flagship of the Oceania Cruises fleet and features a beautifully re-inspired ambiance. Each luxurious suite and stateroom is entirely new from floor to ceiling, including the bathrooms. Her decks are resplendent in the finest teak, custom stone and tile work, and her lounges, suites and staterooms showcase designer residential furnishings. Regatta offers four unique, open-seating restaurants, the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center, eight lounges and bars, a casino and 333 tony suites and sleekly redefined staterooms, nearly 70% of which feature private verandas. With more than 400 crew to serve a maximum of 656 guests, it’s no wonder these small and luxurious ships are more than acclaimed – they are legendary.

In a dramatic re-inspiration process, Regatta has become a completely redesigned ship without peer. Every surface of every suite and stateroom is entirely new, while in the public spaces, a refreshed colour palette of soft sea and sky tones surrounds tasteful renewal of fabrics, furnishings and lighting fixtures that exquisitely encompasses the inimitable style and comfort of Oceania Cruises. From the bejewelled new chandeliers in the gracious Grand Dining Room to the beckoning Reception Hall, Regatta celebrates a rejuvenation so sweeping, you will find it positively unimaginable to resist her welcoming embrace.

Ship Reviews

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and the unique places it was taking us. We knew from the start the Regatta was an older, smaller ship at 30K tons. Easy to check in and get on the ship. We had a PH1 cabin at 322 square feet about the same size as a veranda on their new ships. Comfortable bed and good linens and bath towels. Service was very good in the cabin. Heard no outside noise at night. Getting around on this ship was easy and quick. Nothing real crowded with only 640 passengers. I kind felt I was on the Titanic with the older decor. Service throughout the ship was pretty decent. Casino was only open 6 hours in the 12 nights on the ship. There were 6 entertainers and they also did the social games on board. They were fine. Cruise director was also good though he is retiring Fitness center was actually the newest thing on board with new equipment. The Locker room was dated. There an area for out front for suite and concierge level but not as nice as their new ships. There was a large library and card room. There was one shuffleboard court, 9 holes putt putt and corn row along with one ping pong table. Not many used these except during play for O points. Small pool and no problem getting chaise lounges. Baristas was decent except terrible food options. Excursions were typical bus rides with tour guides sometimes hard to understand but have to use that shipboard credit for something! Oh the food! Waves it was good. Breakfast buffet was a struggle for me as was lunch so I ate at waves. Dining room for dinner was really no better than being on RCCL or Celebrity. Polo Grill was good but again not over the top compared to a US steak house. Toscano probably was the best of the 2 venues. Problem is you have to make advanced reservations and then you meet new friends and hard to switch the reservation. Tea time was nice at 4 pm. The ship did not sway as much as I thought it would being a small ship. All ports were Docked. Dress was very casual.

We love cruising Oceania! The smaller ships suit us and provide a less crowded experience. The veranda rooms are spacious and well maintained. The service in all areas of the ship is excellent! Our cruise had quite a few sea days and we missed a couple of ports, which was disappointing. But we enjoyed our port experiences and the crew filled the sea days with interesting activities. We failed to reserve excursions in some ports and were unable to book them later which was disappointing. We were able to book some once we were in port in some areas. We loved our excursions of snorkeling on the Barrier Reef, Mystery Island and especially snorkeling with sharks and stingrays at Bora Bora! There were too many beautiful scenes to mention! This was a lovely cruise but I wish we had crossed the International Date Line in a day other than Sunday. I think this was poor planning.

We hadn't been with Oceania for 10 years, so were interested to see how it had changed. Top class service from the crew. Always friendly and helpful, for example the front desk did my paperwork for one of the ports when my tablet wasn't working. When forms needed to be filled in for any of the ports, the ship gave us detailed and helpful instructions on how to fill in the forms. Food was good throughout the cruise. We ate in all the venues. Great local themed buffets in the Terrace Cafe, and you could always order food to be grilled to order. In Toscana, they even had an olive oil trolley with about 10 different oils to choose from. The included wines were usually very good, and I could specify a particular type of wine to drink. Very happy that gratuities and drinks at lunch and dinner are now included. As a Brit, I still hate having to add a 20% tip just because someone has served me a drink, but this is an American ship, and that is how it works. The cabin was comfortable, but the bathroom was tiny. Smallest I've ever seen. Very glad our cabin grade included some free laundry, as there was only one (small) self service laundrette on the ship. People were queuing before it opened in order to get their laundry done, as it was a long cruise in a hot and humid area. Had a very nice massage treatment in the Spa, taking advantage of one of the special offers available. We enjoyed the regular quizzes, and liked the points awarded if your team came first, second or third. You could use these pointa at the end of the cruise to get free branded goodies. We managed to get enough points for a free polo shirt. Much better than the free cocktail some cruise lines offer you. My husband also enjoyed the daily Mensa quizzes. One of the on board lecturers was very good - talking about the history of the areas we visited. We even went to a couple of the evening shows, rare for us as there is usually nothing that interests us. The only reason I give 4 stars, not 5, is the small bathroom and the lack of space in the Terrace Cafe. It got unbearably crowded round the food counters at times. The single laundrette was also a minus, even though we did not need it this time.
