AmaSerena

AmaSerena is a regal river ship accommodating both guests who wish to socialize with kindred cruisers and those seeking private rejuvenation. Twin-balcony staterooms maximize scenic views with amenities that include Entertainment-On-Demand, unlimited Wi-Fi, movies, music and more. Vivid brush strokes on the duvets give local color new life, while sophisticated white marbled bathrooms offer a clean canvas. When it’s time to step out, guests can choose a quiet respite in the inviting library or head to the Main Lounge for cocktails and conversation. Both venues are designed with fabrics in rich reds that call to mind full-bodied Merlots. For a bit of whimsy, the Sun Deck boasts a giant chess set, or you can take a dip in the refreshing pool. As a member of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the exclusive international culinary society, AmaSerena also offers exquisite, locally sourced cuisine in the Main Restaurant or at The Chef’s Table.

Ship Reviews

For our 40th wedding anniversary my wife and I decided to celebrate by traveling somewhere we had not been before. We decided on a European river cruise and with the guidance and recommendation of our trusted travel advisor, Just Vacations, chose AmaWaterways' Rhine Castles and Swiss Alps cruise aboard the AmaSerena. This was our first river cruise and it was wonderful with every detail taken care of! Meals and drinks at mealtimes, including wine and beer, were plentiful and scrumptious, the ship was clean and well cared for, and meeting our fellow passengers was so much fun. Our captain, cruise director, and the entire crew always made us feel we were in good hands. Everything was excellently done, from point B to A (Basel to Amsterdam). Each day we had several choices of excursions and activity level to choose from. The excursions were well planned and led by local residents knowledgeable about the area. We have previously cruised on large ocean ships, but we much preferred the intimacy of the smaller river ship. There were no unexpected, hidden, or extra fees. Any extra cost we encountered on the ship (bar drinks, laundry) was very reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise and definitely will book with AmaWaterways in the future.

This was our first river cruise experience. We have been on 13 big ship cruises. WOW what a difference in personalized service and a HUGE upgrade in quality of food. We truly enjoyed the more 'intimate" small cruise experience. It gave us a chance to meet so many of our fellow passengers. The staff was all amazing, especially our cruise manage Kriss! She was funny, energetic, and managed to remember people's names and faces. I also want to recognize our dining room attendant Mohammed from Egypt. He had a bright smile and went above and beyond for our family. Some of our excursions felt a bit rushed because there were delays, but overall we had a wonderful experience. Rudensheim was probably one of our favorites. We also did the pre cruise stay at Lake Como. The accommodations at the Sheraton were fantastic and we enjoyed the walkability of the area where the hotel was located. The restaurants on site at the hotel were all fantastic as well. The breakfast buffet each morning was a feast with a little bit of something for every nationality or diet.

The ship, staff, service, food and wine were all excellent. There were many different choices on the all the dining menus. The coffee station was always ready and easy to use. The other passengers were friendly and fun. The pool was warm and welcoming. The afternoon sip and sail was also fun and social. My only complaint is the itinerary for our specific cruise. We sailed from Amsterdam up the Rhine and Moselle. Our ship docked at each destination at ~2pm almost every day. As a morning person, this did not work for me. By 2pm, I was chomping at the bit to get started, then felt like once back on the ship, I had to rush to get ready for happy hour and dinner without having any time to relax and shower. This itinerary was not disclosed to us until a few weeks before departure. Had I known, I would have definitely chosen another itinerary that arrived at each destination in the morning. Unfortunately, this did limit my enjoyment of the cruise.

Great first river cruise. We did the pre cruise in Amsterdam. Nice mornring walking tour and the tour to Harlem was well done. With plenty of time to poke around Haarlem after. From the minute we boarded to the minute we left we encountered nothing but excellent staff and service. Friendly and accommodating. From the captain to the engineer to the dining staff everyone was excellent. Cruise was great. Only complaint would be a guide or two weren’t didn’t really enjoy. The choices for excursions was a nice variety and included. Food was on point. Service was great. They could be a bit more diligent about water refills on the table…. But that’s me and I drink a lot of water. Coco and Alex and Nikesh on the staff and Suhli were great. We can’t wait for our next River cruise. The planning began the day we stepped off the boat.
