Ship Reviews

We are just home from our 5th cruise with AMA, and it did not disappoint , We were a group of 40, and I was what AMA called the pied piper. We promoted the cruise with a local French chef here in Portland. Many in the group utilized the AMA pre tour in Paris, and a large group went on the post tour to Barcelona. All in all the cruise was equal to, or better than any of our previous sailings. Cruise Manager Nicky was awesome (we had him on board in Bordeaux four years ago, and requested him for this sailing). With one exception the wait staff in the dining room and the Chef's Table was excellent, and we would especially like to give a shout out to Antonio. The post tour in Barcelona was very good. The hotel used, the Renaissance Barcelona caters to groups, and when in the lobby or having breakfast you might as well be in Kansas City, as there is no clue that you are in Spain. We have two more sailings booked with AMA in 2024 and are looking forward to them

Start to finish, this cruise was everything we hoped it would be. Outstanding customer service, beautiful cruise ship, world class cuisine, and tons of history (mostly Roman) and scenery (including a train ride through a scenic river gorge.) This was our third cruise on AMA Waterways and we were not disappointed. One characteristic of AMA service is that you get to know your servers, tour guides, and attendants. Our family included a biker (who enjoyed taking the biking tours) and a "gentle" walker (who enjoyed that option.) Local tour guides were thoughtful and professional--extremely knowledgeable about their home territory, which in the case of this cruise included Lyon, Vienne, Avignon, and Arles. If they couldn't answer a question they would find out the answer and make sure we received it. Another characteristic of AMA service is the manner in which they make sure no one is lost or left behind at any stop along the way. We had purchased a transfer that included departure at Marseilles, and the AMA professional was there to make sure we made it to the proper line at the airport. This is a world class company designed to provide personal service. It's worth the small extra charge we paid relative to competitors.

Our trip was nothing less than magical. The AmaKristina was beautiful. Our State room was very comfortable for two. The food was excellent. Our cruise director Crystal August appeared she never sleep she was always there with a smile and prepared for all our activities. The off shore excursions were first class and very accommodating for all ages. The downside was a few nights I would have liked to have room service or a late night meal which was not available. I also would have like to have any drinks available anytime I wanted them not just during the public times. I tried to buy cocktails before 4pm and no one was present in the lounge or on the sundeck pool. Money was not an issue. I just could not get any service. Also the transportation was a little unorganized during our trips in Avignon and Arles our bus was late or the guide did not know where our bus was located so we had to walk back and forth about a 1/4 mile from the ship to the parking area

This was our first AmaWater Ways cruise. It was amazing! We were celebrating our 50th Anniversary! Our travel representative Ms Robin Levin suggested this cruise for us. I must say she was right on with this recommendation! We had a great time! The service was great, found new friends, accommodations were awesome! We had such great service. We had two nights with our friends that we made there at the specialty restaurant. We had two cakes that they made for us! We throughally enjoyed ourselves and would plan another vacation with your cruise line. The excursions were well organized and enjoyable. We enjoyed the cooking demonstrations in Lyon and wish we could have even taken more excursions. We actually had our vows renewed on one of the excursions at the Eiffel Tower! Amazing! Something we will never forget! In the future, we will be taking more excursions. Now, we know how good and impressive they are!! Thank you again for a memorable 50th wedding Anniversary! Cheers to the Christina! Looking forward to another trip with our friends we met on your ship!
